A unique notebook for 56 pages went under the hammer for $ 1.025 million. In it, Alan Turing made notes on mathematical theory and logic during the Second World War. According to experts, the records are dated no earlier than 1942, when he was engaged in hacking of the famous German Enigma encryption machine, providing his allies with vital information that helped to reduce the war.
“This is a remarkable result, indicating the importance of the heritage of Alan Turing. We are very pleased that all people who know the value of this unique lot were involved in the auction and indeed, the general public recognized the importance of Turing in history, “says Cassandra Hatton, a manuscript specialist at the British auction house Bonhams.
We add that some of the money earned from the sale of the Turing manuscript will go to charity.
